Updating netgear firmwear
I have a WNR2000v4 N300 Wireless Router running firmware version 18.104.22.168 The device page states that there is a new firmware update available to version 22.214.171.124, but when I try to install it from there, it says the firmware file is incorrect.
I then went to the router's webpage and downloaded the zipped version.
I've done this before successfully, so I don't know what's wrong now.
If you'd like a bit more help, we've included some detailed steps below: To update the firmware on your Netgear router, we recommend that you set up a wired connection between your computer and router.
NETGEAR Pro SUPPORT services are available to supplement your technical support and warranty entitlements.
Keeping your router's firmware up to date improves the performance of the device and helps to protect your network against the latest security threats.
The firmware on your Netgear router can be updated using either the automated or the manual method.
The automated method uses Netgear Genie software to find the most suitable firmware update for your Netgear router.
The manual process gives you more control and is the recommended method if you have a specific firmware version you want to install.
Launch the Netgear Genie application on your computer and click the "Router Settings" button on the left side of your screen to load the Router Settings panel.
You can also open the Router Settings panel by clicking the "Click here" link located beneath the Router Settings icon on the right side of your screen.
Enter your router's administrative username and password in the provided fields.
The default username and password for all Netgear routers are "admin" and "password" respectively.
